Kaelon Fox: 2012 Alumnus

"Where are they Now?" is a series dedicated to catching up with former High School Soccer All-American Alumni to catch up on what they have been up to.  Recently, we heard from 2012 Alumnus Kaelon Fox on how things have progressed since playing in the 2012 All-American Game.

Q: Where are you and what are you up to?

A: I am playing Division One soccer and will be a Junior in the fall at the University of Kentucky.

Q: What was the best part of the High School All-American game?

A: The best part was getting together with the best high school players around the country and playing against each other.

Q: What is the biggest difference between High School and College Soccer?

A: The speed of play is the biggest difference and the physicality of the players from high school to college.

Q: What is one piece of advice that you wish you would have received before you left High School?

A: Stay organized from the beginning of the semester, so that way you are not playing catch up for the whole semester.

Q: What was the best thing that you did from a training stand point as a youth player that helped you develop?

A: I went out to a field and took a bag of balls with me and did specific drills to better myself in areas that I was weaker in. (long balls, left foot, and quick feet drills)

Q: What would you have done differently as a youth/younger player?

A: I would have tried to play on an Academy Team to expose myself to more colleges in the United States.

Q: What do you do to improve during the offseason?

A: I take a bag of balls and go to an open field and work on areas that I can improve on. I go to the weight room and try to get stronger. I run and do the workout packet that your college sends you in the summer to do day-to-day.

Q: What is your personally most memorable soccer moment?

A: Scoring two goals in the high school regional final to beat Trinity high school and being named Mr. soccer and player of the year and getting named to the all American team all in my senior season at Saint Xavier High School.

Q: What do you most enjoy doing outside of soccer?

A: I enjoy hanging with my friends on the UK soccer team and playing gold.

Q: What are your goals for your upcoming fall season?

A: I would like to reach the Elite 8 this fall for Division one soccer. That is the main goal. Other goals would be winning the regular season in Conference USA and/or winning the Conference USA tournament.

If you are a former High School All American we would love to hear from you. E-mail edodd@amplifiedsoccer.com to be a part of the "Where are they Now?" series.
